Maria Korosis Dr. Moore EDUC 325 April 13, 2011 Assignments 1. http://harcourtschool.com/activity/elab2004/gr4/12.html - I like this website because it allows different age groups to work with decimals. I chose the 4th grade level because that is where I am placed to teach. In this applet, the students can change the decimals from tenths to hundredths and so forth. It is very interactive so the students do not become uninterested in the site. 2. http://harcourtschool.com/activity/elab2004/gr4/12.html - At this same website (at 5th grade level) students use a model to name a percent as part of a hundred. They can play around with this applet as much as they’d like, and I think it is a great tool for them to use in order to learn percentages. 3. At my grade level placement, 4th grade, the students are learning about percentages. My classroom is very advanced, so the benchmarks for the actual grade level do not match up to the level of the classroom learners. Most of the classroom is actually around a 5th grade level in math. 4. In my classroom, the students are learning to convert fractions to decimals and percents which is actually what Taylor and I are going to use for our big project this semester. Most days in the classroom, the students play a memory game in order to start learning how to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to percents and vice versa.
